Welcome to our 2010 Fishing Report. Fishing season starts April 3rd and runs through October. Here you will find out how we did on previous trips throughout the season. We will post our fishing report each and every day regardless of our catch success and not just the days we want to brag about.

Rockcod and Lingcod and Halibut season is now open through November 15th. Salmon season will remain open through September 6th!

July 29th - Fun! Limits of vermillion, olive, black, brown, copper rockcod in the box and countless we let go to grow. 80 fish today.

July 28th - Nice day! Limits of vermillion, olive, black, brown rockcod and hooked into 3 lingcod that we had to let grow. 40 fish today.

July 26th - Flat calm water again today. Scored limits for all today. Fish not real big today but a lot of fun and a lot of fish going home. 50 fish today.

July 25th - Really nice water today but a little chill. Great fishing and brought home limits for six plus crew fish consisting of Vermillions, Olives, Blacks, Blues and assorted other rockcod. 66 fish this trip.

July 24th - Trip #2 - Wind came up for the afternoon but the fishing was non-stop! Got into the blues, olives, blacks pretty good and came home with six limits and crew fish too. 63 fish this trip.

July 24th - Trip #1 - Flat calm all morning and great rockcod fishing. We had blues, blacks and olives. Limits for 6 and more for the crew. 76 fish came home on this trip.

July 23rd - Doh! Very flat calm today and whales everywhere! We spent all day weaving in and out of whale highway. Big and little humbacks. We estimate 20 were in our fishing area. Now for the bad news... we didn't catch a salmon today. We know the fish are there but I think we had a banana on the boat.

July 20th - South swell hit us and we worked pretty hard but we toughed it out and managed to get our six limits of olive, blue, black and vermillion rockcod and another limit for the crew. Came home with 65 rockcod.

July 18th - Another great day on the Bay and came home with three nice King Salmon to 18 pounds. Happy Birthday Newell!

July 17th - Biggest salmon of the year today! In fact, biggest in three years! Perfect day on the water. Only three hits today but who cares when the fish are 30 pounders!!!

July 16th - Fished nearshore again today and got early limits for all plus the two crew members. Nice quality fish today including coppers, browns, blues, blacks and olive rockcod.

July 13th - Fished nearshore today and did good with limits for all in Vermillions, olives, blacks, blues, coppers and brown rockcod. AND we got a nice 11 pound lingcod AND a nice at the 11th hour halibut. Great day on the water.

July 11th - That's the way you do it uh huh I like it. BIG SALMON today. Six people taking five big fish to 24 pounds home. Estimated 100 pounds of fresh King Salmon ($16-$25 a pound at the local store = $$$ of the best salmon you'll ever have). And we lost a few BIG fish too... including possibly the biggest fish we hooked this year (sealion)! Water was flat calm and the salmon are now in the area. Hopefully they'll be here for a while.

July 10th - Yeah baby! Limits of rockfish for all six and some more fish for the crew, nice 12 pound lingcod and the cherry on top was a nice halibut. Great calm day on the water today.

July 9th - YAHOO!!! Fished commercial salmon today and Rodney and I had a blast. And there were lots of fish! Brought home (to market) some nice fish averaging 19 pounds. We have a rockcod trip tomorrow and a sport salmon trip Sunday.

July 8th - Nice rockcod limits of blues, blacks, olives and black and yellows. Lots of shaker lingcod and a very nice halibut to take home for six. Nice weather! Tomorrow we go for salmon!

July 4th - Got early limits of vermillion, olives, blacks and brown rockcod then came in closer for a shot at halibut. The south swell was pretty strong and made the halibut fishing tough today.

July 3rd - Nice day on the water today and we landed some nice vermillion, browns, olives and other type of rockcod and we hooked into 9 lingcod and kept two. Nice group. We still have two seats available for tomorrow. Happy 4th!

July 2nd - Double down - 30 pound halibut in the box! And a few limits of NICE vermillion, olives and brown rockcod to go home with too. Now the problem is how do we get all this fish on the airplane. Great trip. Lots of fun and a great group of guys. Happy birthday Ryan. (p.s. the salmon have arrived.)

July 1st - Now we're talking! South swell and mixed seas but we waited it out and got a NICE halibut plus lingcod and an assortment of kelp and brown rockcod to take home. Threw 8 lingcod back to grow. Great day.

June 27th - South swell came in and knocked the bite off so we had a tough day today with some nice browns and one keeper lingcod to take home. Hey, it happens even to the best sometimes.

June 26th - Fish on! We got into some really nice BIG vermillion, olives, brown rockcod today to 4 pounds. And a good lingcod bite too with about 12 fish hooked of which two were big enough to keep. Great day and great group.

June 25th - Little windy today but we have a BIG boat so we can fish BIG winds. We did manage to fish it hard and were rewarded with 4 nice lingcod in the box and another 6-9 that we had to let grow. A little assortment of rockcod to go home with too.

June 24th - Slow and steady fishing today. 5 limits of olives, browns, crab cod and blue rockcod on the smallish size and 3 keeper lingcod to 13 pounds. Let about 7 short lings go. Great day on the water.

June 22th - BAMM! Rockcod mania today with limits of keeper olives, browns, coppers, blues and blacks and another 9 lingcod that were all short for 6 people. Talk about FUN! Water temps are warmer too so looks like were in for some good action over the next couple weeks.

June 20th - Much better fishing today. The winds stayed down till noon so we got to fish all morning. Hooked 12 Lingcod and kept 3 of them up to 11 pounds and a small assortment of rockcod including a couple slug olives to 3 pounds. Really nice day and a great bunch of guys. Happy Father's Day!

June 19th - Still high winds so fishing was difficult and slow. We did have a bite going for the first couple hours then dropped off. A small batch of rockcod including browns, olives, blacks, copper rockcod and a couple nice lingcod to 11 pounds.

June 18th - Slower catching today due to the high winds. Hung out with a big humpback whale for about a half hour too. Nice day but bit cold and a lot of wind. Came home with some rockcod and hooked several lingcod but all were too small to keep.

June 17th - The lingcod are still biting BIG TIME just in front of Santa Cruz! How about hooking up 10 lingcod, all on live sardines. It was pretty much wide open bite and we were swatting lingcod early in the morning. Again we came home with 4 nice lingcod, a mix of rockcod including a FAT Olive rockcod. And... gorgeous all day.

June 13th - The lingcod are biting BIG TIME just in front of Santa Cruz! How about hooking up 30 lingcod, all on live sardines. It was pretty much wide open bite and we were swatting lingcod throughout the day. And we came home with 4 nice lingcod, two were 12 pounds, all sorts of rockcod including vermillions, blacks, blues, grass, crab and a nice petrale sole too. The wind stayed down and the skies were clear so it was gorgeous all day.

June 10th - We fished near Capitola today and saw great signs of bait. We jigged up our live sardines and went to work but only came up with a short lingcod. Apparently the fish were already happy eating the bait and weren't too interested in what we were offering.

June 6th - Way to go boys! Nice mix of quality fish today with rockcod, lingcod, cabezon and a FAT 31 pound halibut in front of Santa Cruz lighthouse.

June 5th - Summertime is coming! Beautiful day on the water today and some nice fish caught too. Not a lot of fish but really nice fish including a 5 pound vermillion. Also hooked and released about a dozen lingcod.

May 30th - Very nice day on the water today and really nice fishing too. We fished rockcod, lingcod and halibut and got into a good early bite of rockcod. One keeper lingcod, three that had to grow a little more and 20+ rockcod. Didn't see any halibut today.

May 29th - Beautiful fishing day. But no salmon. After a few hours switched over to nearshore and were able to score some rockcod and petrale sole and 3 shaker lingcod. Tomorrow I will try and persuade the group to skip salmon fishing and go for halibut while we wait for the salmon to come back in the Bay.

May 27th - Slim pickens today on the salmon grounds. Water temp is 52 and we need to see 54/56 before things pop. Hopefully this weekend will be what we've been waiting for.

May 22nd - Weather kept us near shore today and we tried trolling for a couple hours for salmon with no luck. We then switched over to fishing halibut and got a short lingcod and a keeper rockcod. Wind came up strong around 11AM so we came in. Canceled tomorrow's trip due to high winds. Supposed to be much better Monday.

May 21th - Ouch, another day of trying to find where the salmon moved off to. Tried for halibut after the wind came up with no luck. Hooked into two undersized lingcod.

May 20th - Where'd the fish go? We still have krill and the air pressure got better but no fish today. Not even a bite! Wind kicked up so cut the trip a little short today.

May 16th - Seems like the South swell is keeping the fish away. We had many hookups and managed to get two nice salmon in the boat. Tyler got his fist salmon ever! Way to go Tyler, Good Job! The swell is supposed to come down in a couple days. Things should pick up.

May 15th - Wow, what a difference a day makes. Today the fishing was less than perfect. We did bring home two nice fish but we lost 4 or 5 in the process. Everyone's going home with fish.

May 14th - Wonderful day on the water and a great bunch of guys too. And we got early limits of fish plus crew fish. Biggest fish was 21 pounds! Smallest about 12 pounds.

May 13th - Now we're talking. Hooked into the fish good today and brought home 6 nice fish to 17 pounds. Good quality fish. Lost a few to short bites and one nice one unbuttoned at the boat. Great day.

May 10th - We got into the fish right away! Not 10 minutes and BAMM! But unfortunately, the bite went off as quick as it started. One NICE fish to go home and a good number of lost fish.

May 8th - Really nice day on the water and a good day of catching too. Four nice kings in the box, a dink or two and a number of missed hookups. Great bunch of guys.

May 7th - Weatherman was a little off again. More wind than forecasted and was tough fishing in. We did get a nice 14 pounder in the box then we headed closer to shore to try halibut.

May 6th - Nice day on the water today and brought home a couple nice salmon. Lost a BIG one and got a dink too.

May 3rd - It's been a few days since we've been able to get out due to high seas and high winds. No fish to report today. The water color is getting better and the bait seems to be moving in but the water temp dropped to 53+ degrees. We have to wait a couple more days to get the water temp back up and the fish should start biting again.

April 27th - Real short day today due to weather came up. Only got to fish an hour before the seas and wind went ballistic on us. I'd like to take a weatherman out fishing someday. Rain check for everyone.

April 26th - Tough fishing today. Swell and wind came up and the fish seemed to be scattered where we fished. We did manage to get one nice salmon in the boat but it was a long day waiting for more fish to bite. Hopefully this will be a minor weather change and things will be back to normal with 1+ fish per person tomorrow or Thursday.

April 25th - What a great group and a great day on the water. Everyone goes home with salmon. Three keepers to 15 pounds. Lost a fish or two at the boat.

April 24th - Pretty big swell and the fish seemed to love it! Came home with five king salmon up to a BIG 20+ pounder. Great day!

April 23rd - Nice day fishing today. Great group and we came home with a couple nice 12 pound salmon.

April 22nd - Wow, big swell from the storm and fishing was slow at first then things came to life. Managed to get three NICE salmon in the box to 18 pounds.

April 19th - Good fishing! Great weather and great fishing and great group. We had a lot of action today and came home with 6 nice fish to 17 pounds. Tomorrow and Wednesday have been rescheduled due to weather.

April 18th - NICE DAY on the water and catching. Hooked up a good number of fish and even had a triple! with all fish landed. Biggest on the triple was 18 pounds. Nice job boys! Came back with 6 quality king salmon.

April 17th - Perfect day on the water today but the bite went quiet again like a couple days ago. We lost 4 or 5 fish but did manage to get a couple nice salmon to 16 pounds in the box.

April 16th - BAMM!!! Slow start today with perfect weather then after a few hours of motoring around the bite went wide open! We lost some hookups today but more importantly, we brought home 8 NICE salmon for 6 people. Great group and great fishing. This is what it's all about.

April 15th - The weather was picture perfect. The fishing was flat. There's always a first and today was our first skunk. Heard of a couple fish caught but the majority, ok everyone except a few, came home empty handed.

April 14th - Crew day today and we set out looking for new signs of salmon. Water temps are perfect for salmon but the bait still hasn't shown up. The krill is still pretty thick and keeping the salmon pacified for the time being. Once the sardines, anchovies and squid show up we can expect limits of salmon. Tomorrow (the 15th) is also the day the Pacific Fisheries and Fish and Game announce our salmon season extension or closure so stay tuned!

April 13th - Been a few days since anyone could get out to the salmon grounds so we're all starting from scratch. We did manage to hookup 4 nice fish but two came unbuttoned before they got to the boat.

April 10-12th - Small Craft Warnings and Advisories. Rescheduled trips.

April 9th - Fished the same area today and got some great hookups including a 25+ pounder that stayed on for more than five minutes and spooled! Great day and brought home 3 nice fish to 17 pounds.

April 8th - Fine day on the bay today. Lots of hookups down deep and a couple nice salmon to 18 pounds to take home. Thank you Clint and family!

April 7th - Nice and sunny out and perfect salmon fishing weather. We lost a few salmon, as did most boats and came home with a nice 18 pound buck and a 12 pound hen. Real nice fish. Thanks to Larry and Sarah for hauling in the fish and spreading the wealth!

April 6th - Well, wasn't as good catching as yesterday's reports but we did have a lot of hookups that turned into no-shows. There's tons of krill in the water and the salmon have been feeding on it. There not really too interested in our bait but we did manage to get two in the box before heading home. Great group! Go Army and Go Air Force!

April 4th - Water was pretty bumpy today but we managed to fish it rhrough the morning. Lot's of fun with a great crew. Nice salmon to go home with.

April 3rd - Here's the news we've all been waiting for... No more than 5 minutes from dropping in and we got our first fish and fact... it was a double! A nice 15 pounder and a smaller 8 pounder. Fishing 150-250 feet deep and continued to get hookups throughtout the day. Ended the day with 5 nice fish in the box and another 5+ that came unbuttoned.

April 2nd - Tomorrow is our opener and we're all sitting on pins and needles. We haven't been allowed to fish salmon since 2007 and we probably will only get to fish the month of April this season. It's going to be a busy and wild April. Word is there are plenty of salmon in the Bay. Our weather forecast as of 7:30AM Friday appears to be good fishing seas. Less than 15 knot winds and less than 9 foot swells predicted. The salmon should be in the 17-20 pound average this season too. The sealions are not here in heards which is also a big plus. So, here we go 2010. It should prove to be our best fishing season yet!
